Welcome to Ometepe Nicaragua
The Oasis of Peace, as Ometepe Island is called by its inhabitants, is located in Lake Nicaragua in the southern part of the country. Within its area of 276km² you will find spaces for relaxation and recreation, but also for exploring and serious physical activities. Whether you want to hike the volcanoes Concepción or Maderas, visit the San Ramon Waterfall, go on a horseback-riding trip or a kayak tour, see the various petroglyph sites, chill-out at Santo Domingo beach, hike Charco Verde Nature Reserve or swim in the spring water of Ojo de Agua, this volcanic island has plenty to offer to it's visitors. |
The
easiest way to get to Ometepe from the mainland is by boat from San
Jorge, the little port town on the shore of Lake Nicaragua next to
Rivas. From there you catch a ferry or a smaller boat to either
Moyogalpa or San Jose del Sur. Ferries and small boats leave the dock
several times per day, every day. With our partners on the mainland, we offer transportation services to and from San Jorge, including airport transfers. We can also pick you up or drop you off anywhere within Nicaragua. If you prefer a private transport on the mainland to get to Ometepe Island please have a look at our transportation rates. |
Please feel free to click through these pages in order to find more
information about the tours and hikes we offer throughout this amazing,
peaceful island. We are located in Moyogalpa on Ometepe Island. Our guides are natives of the island, trained, certified, bilingual (Spanish & English) and know the area extremely well. They also can give you information on wildlife, plants and the history of this beautiful part of Nicaragua. |
We
are based in Moyogalpa, the main village on the island. Usually our
tours start from here but they can also be organized from anywhere else
on the island.
We are dedicated to organizing your stay and activities on the island while also showing you the beauty and tranquility of Ometepe and it's people.
